Seymour Mountain
How to get there:
Cross the Second Narrows bridge to North Vancouver and turn onto Mount Seymour Parkway all the way to the end . You will find parking at the far end near the chair lift. This will start you at the 1015 m level. The trail starts at the left side of the chair lift.
The trail is 9 km in length and completion should take about 5 ˝ hours. Shorter trails are available, so be sure to pick up a map before you start your hike. Stay on the main trail if you want to take the 9 km trail, which will lead you down to a small pond before rising rather steeply. Your first lookout with be Brockton Point, which offers you a view of the waters of Indian Arm & Golden Ears Peak in the distance . On a clear day you can see Mount Baker in the distance. Passing Brockton Point and continuing along the trail, the trail will come to a fork for Elsay Lake. At this point, stay left. The trail veers west and then north on it's way to the 2nd. & 3rd. peaks. Be prepared for the occasional snow and ice and use caution. The terrain is steep. Going west by keeping left, you will go around the summit of the 2nd. peak. After entering a gully on your way to the summit, you will get a view of the granite bluffs. A narrow trail leads to the bluffs, which are an easy climb to the top. A note of caution: Stay on the trails and be prepared for quick weather changes. Bring appropriate clothing and a good supply of water.
