Outback Trail

How to get there:
Take the Wizard Express at Blackcomb Village all the way to the Solar Coaster Lift. The trailhead starts at the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain, which is at the 1860 m level.

Up the hill, to your right, a wide path will lead you to Fitzsimmons Meadow Walk. Further along, you will come to a fork on the trail. Follow the signs to the Lower Lakeside Trail. Most day hikers and sightseers will turn back at this point. If you decide to take the Lower Lakeside Trail, you will come upon the sign for the Outback Trail. Along with the views, enjoy the variety of wildlife that inhabits this area. You may encounter marmots, ptarmigans, deer and even the occasional bear. If you are planning to camp out overnight, here is a fairly good camping spot, with water, at Decker Cairn. This is just around the east side of Blackcomb Peak and makes a good base camp for exploring. You might want to climb up to the Overlord Lookout . This is a great place to stop for a snack. From here, the trip back is all down hill. . If you just can't get enough of your hiking experience, you can branch off to the Upper Lakeside Trail. This will bring you back to the Fitzsimmons Trail, just under the 7th. Heaven Skyride. From here it's a short walk back to the Rendezvous Lodge.
