Just 130 km off the north coast of B.C. , the islands are a unique, rewarding, holdiay destination, whether it's a sport-fishing, beach combing, steelheading, whale watching or touring vacation! The Queen Charlotte Islands are known by the native inhabitants as "Gwaii Haanas", which means "Islands of Wonder". The archipelago consists of about 150 islands, the two largest being Graham Island to the north, and Moresby Island to the south. The latter island contains a newly designated National Park Reserve and National Park Reserve and National Park Reserve and Heritage Site. Sandspit is accessed directly by scheduled air service from Vancouver, BC and by ferry service from Prince Rupert via Skidegate on Graham Island. The BC Ferry Corporation strongly recommends making reservations for autos from Prince Rupert to Skidegate. Foot passengers don't generally need to make reservations.
The islands provide something of interest for everyone; history, archeology, fishing, boating, hiking, biking and more. The four main towns and numerous communities all have something interesting to offer.
