Jasper National Park
An extensive trail system leads through the park to its many natural wonders. The scenery is often rugged, including deeply gouged Maligne Canyon and picturesque Maligne Lake. Enjoy the sounds of Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls, take in the serene beauty of glacier- covered Mount Edith Cavell or have a relaxing soak in Miette Hot Springs. All of those attractions are accessible by road or ride the tramway to the top of the Whistlers. There is a trail for everyone here ranging from the 2.5 kilometer long stroll into the Valley of the Five Lakes to a 170 kilometer long North Boundary trail trek. The most popular day hikes in the park include the Sulphur Skyline, Cavell Meadows, Bald Hills and Wilcox Pass trails. These trails are easily accessible off of the parks paved roadways.
Camping Sites are in abundance throughout the park. Jasper National Park offers one of the best backpacking areas on the continent. Any access to the back country to destinations such as Jonas Pass, Poboktan Pass, Brazeau Lake, the Tonquin Valley and the Skyline Trail is strictly controlled by Parks Canada. |
