Minter Gardens are one of the greatest show gardens in the world. Brian and Faye Minter founded the gardens in December 1977. Nestled against 7000 foot Mt.Cheam in the coastal mountains of beautiful British Columbia, the Gardens are located at the junction of Provincial Highway 9 and the Trans-Canada Highway I, near Bridal Falls, 10 km from Harrison Hot Springs. Situated on existing farm sites, the Gardens were designed to take full advantage of every existing tree.
Minter Gardens is 32 acres of floral artistry. The 11 theme gardens such as displays of the Lake Garden, Rose Garden, Formal Garden, Alpine Garden, Rhododendron Garden, Fragrance Garden, Meadow Garden, Fern Garden, Arbor Garden, Chinese Garden and Stream Garden are designed to dazzle the senses with massive displays of color and fragrance. Another attraction is found in a unique collection of Chinese rock sculptures. Gently winding pathways progressively link each unique garden. Delightful surprises, such as Victoria topiary ladies, a giant floral peacock, a floral flag, a living maze, aviaries, and beautiful waterfalls and ponds await around every bend. An underground lake, the source of several streams, fountains, small ponds and a large waterwheel which now graces the landscape are an important part of the Gardens.
Minter Gardens offers an abundance of outdoor activities, family attractions, and wonderful getaways. The Fraser River Valley is truly one of the most picturesque areas of beautiful British Columbia, and is well worth a visit.
