Telephone Historical Centre
The Telephone Historical Centre opened to the public in 1987.
This Telephone Museum and Science Centre is the largest of its
type in North America. Much more than a collection of antique
phones, the focus at the Telephone Historical Centre is fun and
learning through sound, touch, hearing and doing. A special
highlight is the multi-media presentation featuring Xeldon,
the talking robot. A multi-media presentation provides a detailed
look at the history of telephones in Edmonton and the history of
Edmonton itself.

Alberta Aviation Museum
The museum is locate at the city center airport. There you can
relive Edmonton's rich aviation history. Inspect the collection
of vintage planes dating back to the 1920s, including aircraft from
early commercial and bush flying eras. Military history enthusiasts
will enjoy the paraphernalia on display, including an actual machine
gun turret. Mechanics will get a charge out of the display of
airplane engines, from a puny 3 cylinder, 36 hp model to a Pratt &
Whitney jet. The museum features an Aviation Gift Shop.

Alberta Railway Museum
The Alberta Railway Museum houses a collection of various railway
equipment and buildings. The main emphasis is on cars and
locomotives from the Canadian National Railways and Northern
Alberta Railways. More than one hundred years of railroading in the
west are reflected in over 50 major artifacts ranging from freight
equipment, passenger cars and locomotives to an authentic railway
station. During the summer season, the museum offers passenger
service on their locomotives. The diesels, 9000 and 7944, run every
Sunday during July and August. The steam locomotive, 1392, runs on
four long weekends: Victoria Day (May), Canada Day (July), Heritage
Day (August), and Labour Day (September).

C & E (1891) Railway Museum
The museum is dedicated to the Communications and Electronics
Branch, which is responsible for all communications and electronics
matters in the Canadian Forces. The museum is a replica of the
original station, which served the community from 1891-1907 and
features numerous train and station artifacts as well as an
extensive historic photograph collection. Relive those first
exciting days when the steam engines first arrived in Strathcona,
bringing thousands of settlers to the area.
Winter hours (Labor Day to May 31): by appointment.
Admission is by donation with a suggestion of $2 per person.

Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum
Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum is located on the
site of the first sitting of the provincial legislature in 1906.
The museum is housed in the historic McKay Avenue School.
The museum includes a 1920s classroom, a 1950s classroom
and the restored legislative chamber. Archival holdings date from
1881. Edmonton's first public school, built in 1881, is also on
the grounds. Guided tours may be booked. Group tours are
available by appointment.

John Walter Museum - Historic Site
The John Walter Museum is made up of the three original homes of
John Walter, a turn of the century entrepreneur and industrialist. The museum not only tells about John Walter, but also the story of Edmonton's river valley and its communities. Story lines for
Exhibits are drawn from a variety of industrial, recreational and
working class themes.Sunday activities include candle dipping, doll
making, house building and gold panning.

Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum
A new military history museum features memorabilia of the Loyal
Edmonton Regiment as well as other units and military services
from Central and Northern Alberta. The museum features pictures,
documents and artifacts depicting all aspects of recruiting,
training and overseas service.

Provincial Museum of Alberta
Experience the natural wonder of Alberta at this major city museum.
Situated in a park setting overlooking the winding North
Saskatchewan River in Edmonton. The museum, a 1967 Canadian
Centennial project, is surrounded by sculpture in a park setting
overlooking the spectacular River Valley. The acclaimed Habitat
Gallery presents birds and animals in settings recreated from
Alberta's four regions: prairie,aspen, parkland, and mountain and
boreal forest. Aboriginal artifacts, wildlife dioramas, dazzling
minerals as well as the Bug Room featuring live exotic insects from
around the world are just of the few collections that can be viewed
at the museum. The new Aboriginal Peoples Gallery opened in 1996
and contains artifacts of early life on the praries. The Museum's
collection of aboriginal artifacts is among the finest in North

Reynolds - Alberta Museum
Experience first hand the astounding collection of cars, trucks,
motorcycles, tractors, airplanes. Celebrate the "Spirit of the
Machine" through exciting audio-visual programs, interactive
displays and demonstrations. The Reynolds-Alberta Museum interprets
the mechanization of transportation, aviation, agriculture and
industry in Alberta from the1890s to the 1960s. The museum is home
