Calgary Tower
The Calgary Tower has become the City of Calgary's most famous
and identifiable physical landmark. After it's 1968 completion,
the tower is still one of the tallest structures in the city
and a must see on any tourist's itinerary. Since then the tower
has undergone a number of renovations. At 190 metres high
(626 feet, 762 steps), the tower boosts a Observation Terrace
for a breathtaking view, the top of the tower features the
revolving Panorama Dining Room.

Calgary StampedeThe Calgary Stampede attracts over one million people each year.
The event provides entertainment for all ages with the top attraction
being the rodeo competitions. Additional events of interests are
agriculture exhibits, commercial exhibits, midway rides, and some top
music and entertainment. The city of Calgary is transformed for ten
days into a town celebrating the time when rounding up cattle was a way of life.

Canada Olympic ParkCanada Olympic Park is the crown jewel of the XV Olympic Winter Games.
The park is a year-round sport and tourist attraction offers a
full-facility ski hill, which is open to mid March. Located in the city
of Calgary the favorite pastimes as skiing, snowboarding and snowblading
can be enjoyed during day and as well as night. Rental equipment is
available. Enjoy the expanded luge and bobsleigh rides. Guided bus tours
of the park are offered daily. The Grand Olympic Tour includes admission
to the Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum.

Olympic PlazaOlympic Plaza was built downtown Calgary for the 1988 Winter Games. The plaza
has several fountains, a pool, which becomes a skating ring in the winter, and
features outdoor concerts and performances in the summer. The Legacy Wall at
the plaza is decorated with plaques commemorating medal winners from the 1988
Olympic Games.

Space Port
Visitors to Calgary International Airport will find the opportunity to truly
experience space, flight and high-tech communications. for the younger crowd,
this attraction includes a quarter-scale model space shuttle on loan from NASA,

air traffic control tower, a full-size single-engine Beaver Bush plane, a
moon rock exhibit, five flight and motion simulators and a play area. SpacePort

Pengrowth Saddledome
Calgary's premier sports arena is home to hockey games, the Calgary Exhibition,
and the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. The Saddledome is home of the Calgary Flames
and Calgary Hitmen hockey teams. This 17,104-seat arena hosts concerts,
circuses, ice shows, rodeos, arena football and motor sport. Facility includes

Stephen Avenue Walk
Eighth Avenue, the heart of downtown Calgary, has long been known as Stephen Avenue, or Stephen Avenue Walk.
Within eight city blocks, from 5th Street SW to Macleod Trail SE, there are seven art galleries. A mix of wood,
sandstone and smooth white terra cotta buildings line both sides of this historic street. Stephen Avenue Walk is home
to the grand and recently restored Palace Theatre, the six-storey column-fronted Hudson's Bay Company and the
sandstone-façade Alberta Hotel with its whimsical gargoyles transplanted from the old Calgary Herald Building.

Eau Claire Market is more than just a market featuring fresh produce, seafood, meats,

Devonian Gardens
The Devonian Botanical Garden, formerly known as The University of
Alberta Botanical Garden, includes as its main feature a large alpine
garden, a herb garden and collections of Iris, Peony, Juniperus, and Betula.
Included in the gardens is a Native Peoples of Alberta Garden, a Japanese Garden,
Childrens Garden and a Garden for the Handicapped. Covering 2.5 acres,
the Devonian Botanical Garden is Alberta's largest indoor garden in the heart of
downtown. A permanent art gallery hosts monthly exhibitions by local artists.

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is a 32-hectare wildlife Reserve located on the Bow River
at 2425 - 9 Ave. S.E. There are more than two kilometres of level walking trails
throughout the riverine forest by the river and alongside a peaceful lagoon. More than
250 species of birds and 300 species of plants, plus several kinds of mammals
have been observed in the area. An Interpretive Centre features displays birds and other
wildlife and provides helpful information. The Sanctuary is open year-round during daylight hours.

Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery
The hatchery was named after one of Calgary's earliest homesteaders and stocks
approximately 300 of Alberta's lakes. The hatchery opened in 1973 and produces
about 3 to 4 million fish yearly, among them rainbow, brook, brown and cutthroat
trout. The hatchery offers self-guided tours as well as guided group tours.

Fish Creek Provincial Park
Fish Creek Provincial Park is one of the largest urban wildernesses in the world,
with over 54 miles of trails for hiking, biking and running where the needs of
wildlife and natural systems are balanced with outdoor leisure and environmental
education opportunities. On-site is the recently restored historic Bow Valley Ranch
House which was built in 1896 by William Roper Hull, an aristocratic rancher, it was
purchased in 1902 by Patrick Burns. The park's Visitor Centre covers 8,000 years of
human history in the area. The park is open year-round.

Heritage Park
Travel back in time and discover the treasures of Western Canada's past. Located on the
edge of the Glenmore Reservoir, the park covers 2.6 hectares of land. Heritage Park.
The site includes a general store, an opera house, a blacksmith shop, bakery, penny-candy
store, a working steam railroad with a roundhouse, turntable, snowplow, and various other
exhibits of antique train. A 200-passenger paddlewheel boat cruises the reservoir during
the summer.

Fort Calgary Historic Park
The North West Mounted Police built the fort in1875 where the Bow and Elbow Rivers meet.
Today, local volunteers using period tools are reconstructing the fort.
Set on 40 acres of riverside park and includes an interpretive center and the Deane House
Historic Site & Restaurant. Take a step back into history and experience the way people
lived in the late 1800.

Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre
Located in Calgary's Chinatown, the Chinese Cultural Centre is one of the largest cultural
centres in Canada, encompassing 70,000 sq ft.. Depicting a golden dragon as the
centre peace of the dome, rising 60 ft above the floor, the dome has been patterned after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China and is decorated with intricate tile work.. A museum and gallery provide the visitor with a historical overview of the Chinese culture. The centre houses a library and meeting rooms for the Chinese community and provides a gift store and restaurant for the public.

Pumphouse Theatres
The Pumphouse Theatres developed from a Water Pumping Station built in 1913. Saved from
demolition in 1968, it was restored and equipped with two fully functioning theatres.
The building is located on the banks of the Bow River and has been declared a historic site.
Presently, the Pumphouse Theatres mostly serves as a rental facility to several local
theatre companies as well as acting as host to fashion shows, film shoots and weddings.

Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium
The Jubilee was opened in 1957 and is home to the Calgary Opera and Alberta Ballet
and hosts major international touring musicals, dramatic productions, concerts,
entertainers and conferences. The opening coincided with its twin auditorium in Edmonton
to commemorate Alberta's 50th anniversary as a province. The Jubilee houses a 2,713 seat
theatre/concert hall and the 231-seat Dr. Betty Mitchell Theatre.

The Calgary Highlanders Museum
The Museum chronicles the evolution of the 103rd Regiment
(Calgary Rifles), 10th Battalion and the Calgary Highlanders. The
gallery highlights their significant battles and achievements, saluting the
men and women who have proudly served their country. Together with
photographs, depicting the grim realities of war, they are vivid
reminders of the heroism of Canadian soldiers. Other exhibits include documents,
medals, weapons and uniforms.
